How to Email Quiz Results to Leads in GoHighLevel (Native Options vs Built-In Follow-Up)

In short

GoHighLevel can email a quiz result on its own, in two ways. The quick one: the quiz's Auto Responder sends every participant the same email, with their results page attached as a PDF. The tailored one: you save the winning category in a custom field, then a workflow on the Quiz Submitted trigger sends one email per category.

Both work, and both leave you the writing and the upkeep. On the official ideas board, a request to send quiz results by email has 74 votes, and no answer from HighLevel since it was posted in January 2025. Tiquiz takes another road: an email sequence per profile, written by AI and sent by Tiquiz, while the contact, the tags and the result still land in GoHighLevel.

In this article

Someone just spent three minutes on your quiz. They read their result, they nod, they close the tab. Two days later they think "I was the something... what was it again?", and nothing in their inbox can tell them.

The email that carries the result is what turns a quiz into a conversation. It is the one email people actually wait for, and the one that gives you a reason to write again.

So here is how to send it from GoHighLevel, with the two native options, step by step, and what users say about their limits. Then the other road.

Full disclosure. Tiquiz is my tool. That is exactly why I start with what GoHighLevel already does for free, and why I'll tell you when it is enough.

What GoHighLevel does natively

I went through HighLevel's help center on November 2, 2026. Three features matter for this job:

  • The Notifications tab of the quiz. It holds an internal email for your team and an Auto Responder for the person who took the quiz. You set the subject, the sender name and the reply-to address, and you can attach a Quiz Results Page PDF (the scored results page) or a Quiz Submission PDF (their answers).
  • CRM field mapping. The quiz can write its outcomes into the contact's custom fields: overall score and tier, score and tier per category, and the highest and lowest scoring category.
  • The Quiz Submitted trigger. A workflow can start when a contact submits a quiz, filtered by quiz name, overall score, category score or custom field.

Put together, they give you two ways to send a result. One takes five minutes and treats everyone the same. The other speaks to each category, and takes a workflow.

Option 1: the Auto Responder with the results PDF

This is the fastest way to make sure nobody leaves empty-handed.

  1. Go to Sites, then Quizzes, and open your quiz.
  2. In the builder, open the Notifications tab.
  3. Switch on the Auto Responder.
  4. Pick the Quiz Results Page PDF as the attachment. Add the Quiz Submission PDF if you also want them to keep their answers.
  5. Fill in the subject, the sender name and the reply-to address. Save, then publish.
  6. Take the quiz yourself with a fresh email address and open what arrives.

What it does well: no workflow, no custom field, and every participant gets their result in writing. HighLevel announced the PDF option on January 29, 2026, for forms, surveys and quizzes.

What it doesn't do: the settings HighLevel documents are the subject, the recipients, the reply-to and the sender name. Nothing in them changes with the result. Your "Explorer" and your "Builder" get the same message, and their portrait sits in an attachment. An attachment reads like a receipt: useful, rarely read twice.

Option 2: one email per category, with a workflow

This is the real workaround, the one agencies build when each result deserves its own words. Your quiz must use categories: each answer is assigned to a category with a score, and the category with the highest total wins.

  1. Save the result on the contact. Open your quiz's results template, click Edit Template, then Settings, expand Custom Fields and switch on the highest category field. Category names are stored as text. Save.
  2. Create the workflow. In Automation, create a workflow with the Quiz Submitted trigger, filtered on your quiz's name.
  3. Add an If/Else action, with one path per category. Each condition reads the highest category field and compares it to the category name, typed exactly as in the quiz.
  4. In each path, add a tag, for example quiz-explorer. It is optional, but it lets your other workflows, your smart lists and your pipeline reuse the result without reading the field again.
  5. Then a Send Email action, with the copy written for that category. Add Wait steps and more emails if you want a short sequence.
  6. Test every category, each time with a fresh address, and open the contact record: the field should show the category name exactly as your condition expects it.

If your quiz is scored rather than categorized, you can skip the field: the Quiz Submitted trigger filters directly on the overall score or on a category score.

HighLevel's own documentation points to this route: map the highest or lowest category, then send different follow-ups from it. It works. Now let's look at what it costs you.

The limits users point out

The request "Quiz Results Sent Via Email" on HighLevel's ideas board was posted on January 29, 2025. On November 2, 2026, it shows 74 votes, no status and no reply from HighLevel staff. Its comments are a good map of where the workarounds hurt:

  • The built-in email is rigid. The original post says the quiz notification is "not flexible" and that the email is "just a plain table". That was written before the PDF option of January 2026, but the message itself still doesn't change with the result.
  • Some workarounds stop at two results. A user wrote in January 2026 that the workaround they were given "only works if there are two possible results, not three or more".
  • People want it inside the quiz. Another comment asks for results email templates per category, built into the quiz builder, based on the highest or lowest category. A third asks for an automatic email after completion, set in the quiz settings, without manual work.

Three more limits come from the documentation itself:

  • A retake overwrites the mapped fields. Only the latest result is kept on the contact.
  • No documented link back to the result page. HighLevel's result page articles don't mention a page address. A separate request for "Permanent & Sharable Quiz Result Pages" (22 votes, April 2025) says result pages "are dynamically generated and not accessible after the session ends", according to the person who posted it.
  • You write and maintain everything. Four categories and three emails each make twelve emails, four paths, four conditions. Rename a category in the quiz and the matching condition silently stops matching.

Which native option fits you

  • Everyone can get the same message and the PDF is enough: option 1, today, in five minutes.
  • Two or three categories, and you enjoy building workflows: option 2.
  • Many categories, several quizzes, or no time to write a dozen emails: read the next section.

The other road: follow-up emails built into the quiz

Tiquiz flips the order. The emails live next to the quiz, where each lead's profile is already known, and GoHighLevel keeps everything that comes after.

What lands in GoHighLevel. You connect your sub-account in one click ("Connect with GoHighLevel"). For every lead, Tiquiz creates or finds the contact, adds the profile tags (it never replaces existing ones), writes the profile name into the tiquiz_resultat custom field, and fills your form's custom fields, creating them if they don't exist.

What the lead receives. In your quiz's Emails tab, you pick Turn on Tiquiz emails, then Write the emails with AI. Each profile gets its own sequence of 5 emails:

  1. Day 0, their result, sent as soon as they leave their address, with a button that takes them back to their result page, which Tiquiz keeps for them.
  2. Day 1, a tip built for their profile.
  3. Day 3, what holds them back, in their own words.
  4. Day 5, the offer that fits their profile.
  5. Day 7, staying in touch, without pushing.

You review each email by clicking inside it, change the delays, add emails up to 7 per profile, or write everything yourself. Emails after the first go out between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. in the lead's time zone. Without consent on your form, only email 1 (their result) goes out.

And GoHighLevel picks up the thread. Three optional tags land on the contact: one when they click a button, one when the sequence ends, one if they unsubscribe. A workflow on the Contact Tag trigger takes over from there, for example to create an opportunity when someone clicks your call button. The five workflows worth building are in this guide.

Prefer GoHighLevel to send? Pick Send my emails with my autoresponder instead. Tiquiz then sends no email for that quiz, only the tags, and its Automate tab lists the exact tag of each profile to paste into your workflows. You get option 2 without the custom field and without the If/Else.

Take action

Whichever road you take, start with the email everybody gets: the result.

  1. Today, if your quiz already runs in GoHighLevel: switch on the Auto Responder with the results PDF. Five minutes, and nobody leaves empty-handed anymore.
  2. This week, write the first email of each category as if you were talking to one person: what their result means, one thing to do tomorrow, one line about what comes next.
  3. Then choose: build the workflow of option 2 if you have two or three categories and like the plumbing, or let Tiquiz write and send the sequence per profile, and keep GoHighLevel for the pipeline.
  4. Test with a fresh address for each result, and read every email on your phone, the way your leads will.

Send each lead their result

FAQ · Emailing quiz results in GoHighLevel

Can GoHighLevel email quiz results to the person who took the quiz?

Yes. In the quiz's Notifications tab, switch on the Auto Responder and attach the Quiz Results Page PDF. Every participant gets the same email, with their own results page attached.

How do I send a different email per quiz category in GoHighLevel?

Map the highest category to a contact custom field in the quiz's results template settings, then build a workflow on the Quiz Submitted trigger with an If/Else action: one path per category, each with its own Send Email action.

Do I need tags to email quiz results in GoHighLevel?

Not strictly: the workflow can read the mapped custom field. A tag per category is still useful, because your other workflows, smart lists and pipeline can reuse it.

Why didn't my quiz workflow send the email?

Most often, the category name in your condition doesn't exactly match the one in the field, the trigger is filtered on another quiz, or your test contact already went through a workflow that doesn't allow re-entry. Test with a fresh address each time.

What happens when a contact retakes the quiz?

In GoHighLevel, the mapped fields are overwritten: only the latest result is kept. In Tiquiz, if the profile changes, the sequence restarts from email 1 with the new profile, and the new profile tags are added to the contact.

Does Tiquiz replace GoHighLevel?

No. Tiquiz runs the quiz and the emails that follow it. The contact, the tags and the result land in GoHighLevel, where your pipeline, calendars and other campaigns stay.

Can I try it with GoHighLevel on the free plan?

Yes. The free plan includes one GoHighLevel connection and sends email 1 of each profile, the one with the result, up to 100 emails a month.
